Tucked away in a corner of Laxey on Quarry Road is Margaret, our brand new shepherd’s hut. Occupying a private corner of the Laxey Campsite, our hut offers you the best of all worlds. The Quarry Road campsite is a green oasis at the end of a short lane. It is next to a waterfall and has lovely views across the Laxey valley. Within a very short walk you can find a truly lovely beach, a choice of places to eat and drink and bus stops for services north and south. About 10 minutes’ walk will see you in the centre of Laxey village with its shops, services and 3 heritage railway lines. Another few minutes will see you at the Great Laxey Wheel, the world’s largest working waterwheel and the only slightly smaller Snaefell Wheel.
Our hut has a full size double bed with a proper premium mattress, an ensuite with all the facilities and a fully equipped living area that offers sitting, eating and cooking space. We built our hut to have everything you would expect in a holiday home- it’s a tiny house, not a big tent. The shower is full size and all the plumbing works just as you would expect. The kitchen has an induction hob, a combination microwave and oven, a decent fridge and of course a kitchen sink! Our hut is well insulated but has heating for chilly days and an electric blanket for chilly nights. Outside there is a deck with a table and chairs so you can sit with a brew or a beer plus a sitting area with a fire to keep you cosy as the sun drops behind the mountain.
The campsite has free wifi but at the moment we cannot guarantee that it will always reach our hut. We provide a radio that will connect via Bluetooth to your choice of music. We can’t allow pets, smoking or vaping in our hut as we want all our guests to enjoy their stay without worrying about allergies.
